I am going to let you take a peek into another one of the rooms in our new house. . .unlike the other pictures I have shown you. . .this one is NOWHERE. CLOSE. TO. FINISHED! This room is Mabry's. She will be here in just 10 short weeks. TEN WEEKS PEOPLE!! I remember thinking 10 weeks with Bryson seemed like an eternity. It is going by so fast now. Now that the sickness is over, the tiredness is not so intense, and the dr bill has all ready been paid for the delivery. . .it is close. . .oh my. . .it. is . close!
Adam and I have work to do. Lots of work. Here is a picture of the room I speak of, currently a storage room for all things baby (and the vacuum cleaner which hasn't yet found a home, can you spot it among all the crazy clutter of baby accouterments?)
If you look closely, you will see the bedding that I feel in love with a few weeks ago. Adam surprised me and ordered it for me. I love it more in person. Here is a picture for a refresher:
Now the question remains. . .what color do I choose for the walls? I like the blue walls in the photo above. It makes the pinks, reds, and oranges really pop out. But, I am struggling with the idea of a BLUE girl's room. I have never actually loved the color blue. I've spent a lot of time avoiding this color in decorating, coloring books and school supplies. . .just not a fan of blue. I am a girly girl and blue in a girl's room is turning me off. HELP ME. I like the pink on the set, but it is very powdery pastel-y. . .also not really a fan of pastel. I LIKE BOLD COLORS. Hot PINK, Hot Orange, RED! Can't really see painting the room one of these WILD colors either. So what is your vote? What would you do? I realize this is not life and death, but important to me. . .I want to get it right.

I'm not a fan of pink walls- julia's aren't pink- we chose green to compliment the pink. I actually would choose the blue as you said- It really doesn't look blue to me- it looks like a seafoam color- really trendy now- I would take it into the paint store and have them make a lighter version of the color in the bumper. It will look good and be soothing as well.
Well- that is my imput- emily
Pait it blue and put clouds on it. Maybe then it isn't so boy-ish blue and more of a "relaxing in the sunshine" blue. If not a pastel coral-y orange would be nice....
Oops - that should be PAINT it blue....
well, i told you how much i love earth tones, in particular green. I would choose one of the greens on those circle-thingys near the orange flower on the quilt in the picture. do u see what i'm talking about? or i just noticed that there seems to be a peachy shade(the little hearts) in it too! i LOVE peach..it is girly without being too pink-ish. am i making sense??
I love bold colors too but I just can't seem to get into them for a nursery. I would do something softer. Although I am not a fan of blue either, I love the blue shown. I agree with Emily, it is almost seafoam. You could always put the same flower border around the top of the room too. I don't know how you would get that though???? Good luck and don't worry, it will look great!
So, I enlarged the picture...and my vote would be for the darker green color that I see in the vines. I think this is what I am seeing :) It looks like an olive/khaki green and I think that would be a nice neutral color that would allow the bright colors to pop :) That's my 2 cents!

You could do 2 colors that accent each other. If you really want a bold color, then pick a pale color to accent it and take some of the "boldish-ness" down. The light pink with red, or the blue with light pink, or green with kakhi...Orange with the pale green would look nice to! Whatever you choose, it will be beautiful!!!!
OK...let me give my 2-sense!
First LOVE the bedding! WAY CUTE!
You know I love bold colors, however, because the bedding is so busy and you dealing with so many colors, my opinion is to keep the walls more nuetral. What about a chair rail of sorts? Kinda like B's nursery...
Maybe a shade of white on the top, not hospital white but nuetral. ya know? I know you said you are not a fan of the pink, but I enlarged the pic and it does not look "powdery" to me. You could even get that pink a shade darker and it would still coordinate. In my opinon, PINK IS A MUST in a girls room! :)
Let's go get paint samples next week, yeah?
OMG! You totally need a RED accent wall. It used to be your fav color- possibly still is. then maybe tan for the other walls?Cant you hear Maybre cheering.."RED RED RED!!!"
cnat believe u used the word "accurtrument" in your blog!!!!!Diggin up the ol' Jody word are we? :) Remember him?

okokkkk...I got another idea. Red accent wall again but this time (on the red wall) tape off white rectangles (maybe 3) in random places...but asymetrically balanced with the patern inside the white.Just like the bed covering has them in a pattern Holly you could totally draw and paint those cute designs!!! Dr. Martin would be so proud. You gould get the craft paints at W mart. The shapes are relativly easy. I love that teal blue for an accent color. RED Tan AND TEAL plus white for accents.

I'm not going to be much help I don't think. Everyone's ideas are good. I was never a fan of blue, until I stepped out of the boat and painted our room a blue and I love it! My sister in law used the color first, so I got to see it on someone else's wall first--well in a pic she sent me since she lives in tampa. Let me know if you want me to send you a pic. It's werid b/c I used the same color blue in Caleb's new room and the colors look so different once you get all the accessories in. His room looks boyish and our room looks more girly. I like red too--although that may be lots of kiltz if you want to repaint any time soon! And then there's always green--a safe good color. Selah took Caleb's old room and I wasn't about to reapaint it after I just painted it less than a year ago...so we're going with it...green it is. Can't wait to see the end product!!
When I first saw it I immediately thought that the aqua trim in the bedding stood out. Maybe a muted aqua or seafoam (like Em and Pam). You could always do an accent wall with a bright color and then the other walls in a lighter shade of the same color.
Can't wait to see what you choose!

Another color that I like is the soft green - maybe celery that is in the bedding. That would be a nice color as well.
Can't wait to see what you decide.
